Following the outbreak of hostilities, they have been cut off at their Forward Operating Base (FOB) by a massive, asymmetric surge of IRGC-backed insurgents. The enemy didn't just attack; they strangled the valley. Using the jagged Kunar ridgelines, insurgent mortar teams and snipers have pinned the 2/9 inside their own wire. The base's flight line is "Red"—no birds can land, and no supplies can get in. The 2/9 is low on water, low on bandages, and down to their last crates of 5.56mm. The Stakes: This is an Official Relief Operation. The world is watching to see if the U.S. can protect its own. If the 2/9 falls, the border falls. The "Green Zone" Chokepoint: The only road into the base runs through a dense thicket of trees and irrigation ditches.
