    NJP Changes

By Col Penny, in Command Announcements,

    Attention All Hands,

We are making some adjustments to the NJP Policy to allow more ability for those able to hand out NJPs. Currently there isn't quite enough.... teeth... to what they are allowed. We are changing this.

Effective 15JAN17 we are doing away with the scaled deductions based on the administer's billet. The scale will, instead, be done by the offender's rank. The person administering the NJP will be able to deduct a maxmimum of 25% of the difference of CSE/CSO needed from their current rank to the next.

That's someone complicated, I know, but below I will list out the maximum points allowed to be NJP'd per rank, in accordance with the new promotion policy listed HERE. These NJP maximums will be based only on the Category A points for the sake of simplicity.

    E-1: 4
    E-2: 5
    E-3: 12
    E-4: 14
    E-5: 21
    E-6: 21
    E-7: 19
    E-8: 15
    E-9: 15

    O-1: 11
    O-2: 15
    O-3: 16
    O-4: 17
    O-5: 16
    O-6: 16

Additionally, with the new Pay Grades HERE, those administering NJP will be able to deduct up to 25% of one's monthly pay. For simplicity's sake, here is the scale (this is subject to change):

    E-1: $40
    E-2: $45
    E-3: $47
    E-4: $52
    E-5: $57
    E-6: $62
    E-7: $72
    E-8: $103
    E-9: $127

    O-1: $76
    O-2: $88
    O-3: $101
    O-4: $115
    O-5: $133
    O-6: $160

Any questions regarding this new policy may be directed here.

Again this is effective following WSD, when the new promotion policy takes effect. Until then the current NJP policy remains in place.

    Pay Grade

By Col Penny, in Command Announcements,

    Attention All Hands,

I have been flirting with this idea, as some of you may have seen before. Command Staff has now authorized this to see what else becomes of it.

Effective immediately, all pay grades will now have an associated pay. That's right Devil Dogs.... you're now getting paid.

Below is the payscale for all pay grades:

    A few items to note:

This pay is monthly. There will be no pay difference between Reservists and Active Duty. This is prohibitively complicated. There will be no pay difference between MOS or billets. This is prohibitively complicated. There will be no additional pay for S-Shops. This is prohibitively complicated. Pay will be administered on the 1st of every month. Your rank as of 12:01am on that date will determine your pay for the month. Bonuses may be given by section leaders to individual(s) with approval from MEU HQ.
Currently there are only a few unit-specific items you will be able to spend this money on. This is expected to grow as more ideas come with this system now implemented, as well as organic systems not regulated by the Unit.

    The items are as follows:

The above items require some explanation:

Every promotion you receive will incur a $100 deduction from your pay. This is to simulate having to purchase all brand new insignia for all of your uniforms. Awards and Decorations will be undergoing some major changes: All current Awards and Decs will cease work and will be removed All signature images will be replaced with a coyote vest patch, the exact same as is currently in my signature. Every member, from fresh SOI Private to Colonel, will have and carry one of these patches. No member, any longer, should have a blank signature. This patch can be replaced with the purchase of the Service Green Awards and Decs (what we currently use). This patch, or the Service Greens, can be replaced with a Dress Blues Awards and Decs (new). In addition, NCOs and Officers may purchase an NCO or Officer Sword for display next to Awards and Decs (Dress Blues only). Awards and Decs Staff will no longer maintain these racks on a specific time basis. If you want your rack updated you will have to request and purchase an update.
The administration of this pay (automatic pay, deductions, tracking) will be done through a plugin on the forums. For this we will be needed to purchase and add the Automation Rules. We are already using the light version of this, which you will have experienced if you have made a Proposal lately and had its status changed. The Lite version of this extension only allows 10 rules, which we are currently using 3 of. We will need many more for the Pay Grades, and the purchase of this allows for the possibility of adding many more rules (automatic notification of application flagging, etc.). For this we will be taking donations.

Any questions about this system may be directed here.

Replacement of signatures will begin immediately.

First pay will be administered January 1st.

    Attention All Hands,

Just about every year we tweak the promotion policy somewhat. Now is time for our annual tweaks.

We have noticed, and discussed, the past couple years the degrading meaning of some ranks because they are too 'easy' to get, and that they are not treated or taught as well as they could. While we continue to make steps towards better education, we are today implementing a better experience need for everyone.

    Effective 15JAN17 (after WSD):

The amount of of Time in Grade (and thus points, of course) required for almost all enlisted ranks will be increased Category B requirements for Corporal and Sergeant will be reduced from 3x to 2x, and for SSgt+ will be reduced from 3x to 1.5x (this is the old system) Officer TIG requirements will not be changing at this time (subject to change after WSD, they are being examined), but CSO requirements are being reduced. The reason for this is because the math was way off. All CSE/CSO requirements are calculated to the minimum amount of points one would acquire with 100% attendance (14 per month) in the TIG period, plus an extra 15% effort for all officer and NCO ranks. Officers were, somehow, miscalculated to be 21 points per month. This has been corrected. Officer Category B requirements will remain 3x
The new requirements will be as follows:

Any questions about these changes may be made here.

As stated previously officers may also see a TIG increase after WSD. For now only enlisted TIG has been affected.

    Attention All Hands,

With the departure of Captain Wiggin this Unit is losing a stalwart member of our ranks. He will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered. His leaving leaves open not only a spot in our hearts, but the position of LED Platoon Commander.

It is with pride that I announce, effective immediately, Sergeant Towers will be stepping into the role of LED Platoon Commander. Though he has not been with us for (relatively) long, he has proven himself already to be a man worthy of this position.

Good luck, Mr. Towers. Welcome to the game.

    Attention All Hands,

Currently the only individuals allowed to teach the M32/DMR Qualification Courses are Platoon HQ. While this allows them to control whom is taking the course, it restricts the pool of available teachers too much to be effective.

Since we expect our Range Instructors to be proficient and able to teach any weapon system, the following change is effective immediately:

Rifle Range Instructors are now eligible to administer the M32/DMR Qualification Course to those who have been approved by their Platoon HQ.

    Attention All Hands,

Effective immediately we will be adding a criteria for eligibility of the Combat Instructor Ribbon:

-Every Parachute Qualification School class will count as 2 hours of credit towards the Combat Instructor Ribbon for the instructors.

This change is effective immediately and is not retroactive.

    Attention All Hands,

With the winter holidays coming upon us it's time to formally announce the dates of the Winter Stand Down this unit goes through every year. During this time we cease all official activities, both primary and collateral. Some of our members volunteer to continue to do some work throughout this time, but it is not required. Training is not required, and no unit wide operations are held. Promotions are not made and nothing is processed. Though, as I said, some people typically continue to process applications or run Basic Training, etc., but this is entirely voluntary.

The dates for the Unit Winter Stand Down for 2017-2018 are:

    Begin: December 10th, 2017
    End: January 15th, 2018

This means this is the last cycle of FTX for December, and we will only be conducting one cycle in January. Time to relax. Put the keyboards down and chill. Spend time with your families. You've all earned it. Come back at the start of the next year prepared to get back to work. This is a great unit we have.. next year is going to be the time to show that again.

    Enjoy the holidays,

TRAINING ORDER FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE 15-17
    3/DEC/17 (Task Forces A, B)

    ORIENTATION:
Takistan has been in civil unrest for many years due to several factions operating in the country. While the Takistani government has made strides, the United States Government has stayed involved in the development of this area, seeking to establish a solid ally in the region, whilst also attempting to stem the tide of illegal arms and drug trade that flows into and out of the country.
The police and the military of Takistan operate as two joint branches, that is also deeply corrupted, whomever isn't bought into the service of an arms or drug dealer, are  often intimidated into inaction by threat of violence.

The intelligence section (Known as ahmar aldhiaab the "Red Wolves") of the Takistan military, which operates Takistans special forces, is dedicated to freeing Takistan from its corruption and unrest and has been working with the CIA in taking down several HVT's over the years. Currently a joint operation between the CIA and the "Red Wolves" is underway codenamed "Operation Sabertooth",  which is aimed at one of the last remaining arms dealers left in Takistan, Calvin Roux. A French African native, he is responsible for selling arms and armament to several groups that have attacked U.S. occupied locations in Takistan and elsewhere regionally. Due to many Takistan politicians having been bought by Calvin Roux, attempts to imprison him in Takistan have failed. Calvin Roux exact location is unknown, as he moves from house to house each night, however he still utilizes his lieutenants in order to conduct business, which has allowed the CIA to track him to a specific region in Takistan.

The president of Takistan has agreed to allow Calvin Roux to be extradited to U.S. soil where he will face charges of aiding enemies of the United States and imprisoned. Due to internal pressure, the "Red Wolves" are unable to carry out this operation, thus a small portion of the 15th MEU was assigned to airbase "Reno" a month ago on the pretext of training Takistan military forces.
The 15th MEU will be essential carrying out the end phase of "Operation Sabertooth" and capturing Calvin Roux.

The CIA has been tracking the movements of Calvin Roux's top lieutenant known only as Nabi, a Takistan native. His recent movements have seen him visiting the regional police station in Jilavur, and meeting with Police Captain Abdul. These meetings have been confirmed to be securing Abduls loyalty, and that of his men, with bribes. These meetings happen on a monthly basis, early in the morning, after which Nabi departs out of Jilavur eastward to an unknown location. Likely to check on illegal arms stashed in a compound somewhere, Nabi always heads back into Jilavur and onwards towards either Shukurkalay or Chaman by 1000 local. Efforts to track Nabi into this area have been difficult as he changes vehicles out of sight, and the local populace is uncooperative and unwilling to risk themselves due to fear of retaliation by Calvin Roux to gather information.
