  1. There is previous story to this, will probably summarize and post in the future. On 4/23/2021, Golden Sun Insurgent de facto leader Yiannis “kokkina cheria” released a video allegedly depicting a NATO EOD team that went missing after they and their escort were attacked and over ran along a road north of Saint Loisse. The town has been a war zone since NATO took control of Malden International Airport to the northeast earlier in the month. Secretary General of NATO, Andre Olsen, has stated that “All information at this time is on a need-to-know basis. We are reviewing the film and should the American Marines wish to discuss it with us, we are eagerly waiting their cooperation.” It is believed that NATO has been requesting assistance with the very IED problem that the 16 unnamed NATO soldiers went out to handle. A junior officer from Portugal, who wished to remain anonymous, stated “The Marines ignore our request for help. They are fighting well, but our primary focus should be to get people out safely. We need to work together! Now I don’t think that will be possible.” Further grumblings seem to indicate a distaste among NATO troops for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, who recently set up a forward operating base on the western side of the island. From this position, last week, they were able to take control of the town of Larche, eliminating a Golden Sun lieutenant with no loss to civilian life. This execution may be in response to those actions, as more Maldenese locals in contested areas stare with melancholy gazes at the Golden Sun and it’s far right religious rhetoric. This video was most likely designed to put fear back into those not firmly in the GS side. Time will tell if NATO and 15th MEU relationships can be patched up and if the two injured NATO soldiers in the video were killed as well. We here at ONN will keep you up to date on the breaking developments here on Malden. Ella Perrault

  2. PUBLIC ACTION SIGNUP Saturday 24 April 2021 - 1400 CST Public actions are open to all players both public and members, and are expected to last 1-2 hours. These events will usually be scheduled weekly. The next public action after this is currently TBD. SIGNUPS Everyone attending is encouraged to sign up saying "[Name] will be attending", so we can estimate numbers. As more people sign up (especially general "attending" signups), more sign-up spots will be opened. Sign-up leadership positions below must be 15th MEU members whenever possible. Qualified 15th MEU members will be given precedence for specialist roles. 1st Platoon Leader: Sgt Q. Robertson JTAC: CLOSED 1-1 Squad Leader: Sgt R. D. Martin 1-1 Squad Corpsman: HN R. Wayne 1-1-A Team Leader: LCpl Kregdale 1-1-B Team Leader: LCpl Hassinger 1-1-C Team Leader: Cpl Z. Hill 4-1-1-A Machine Gun Team Leader: Open Lead Armor Crew: CLOSED Armor Crew: CLOSED Lead Pilot: 2nd Lt C. James Pilot: CLOSED INFORMATION - FAQ Q: What is a Public Action? A public action is a small public event hosted by the unit open to all comers including public visitors. Public Actions are conducted on the same mission the Public Server is already running, and missions are planned on-the-fly by the signed up event leader as the event begins. By organizing, kitting out, and operating in the way the 15th MEU actually does in operations, these events provide the public with an opportunity to see our skills and participate in organized combat activity. Q: What do you mean "organizing", can't I just grab a rifle and go? Public actions showcase the coordination, tactics, and skills of the unit. We ask that everyone participating fills a required role as directed by the event leader, and operates with their group the same way our e-Marines do. Q: But I always play as US Army and carry a sniper rifle and Javelin, can't I do that? Public actions also show the cooperation and power of a properly equipped Marine unit. We ask that everyone participating uses the weapons and gear that would be used by the role they are filling. After the event is done, you can load out to your heart's content. Q: What's the plan, do we know ahead of time? No pre-plan is done for Public Actions, as they continue with the tasks of the current Public Server mission. As everyone loads in, the event leader comes up with a plan, briefs the group, and puts it in motion. Q: Won't this bog down the server? Public actions begin with the mission being refreshed on the server, and end with either a refresh or (when able) a hard server restart. After it's done, everything is fresh and clear.
