MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group) was ordered to commence Operation "Daniel Boone", a cross-border recon effort in Cambodia. Both SOG and the 5th Special Forces Group under Colonel Walter E. Kurtz had been preparing for the operation. Conflict broke out between the 5th SFG and SOG over missions and manpower. The Commander of the 5th SFG went rogue taking the majority of his SFG with him. Those that resisted were executed and their bodies desecrated. Kurtz is now waging a brutal war against NVA, Viet Cong and Khmer Rouge forces without authorization from commanders. He is based at a remote jungle outpost in eastern Cambodia, where he commands American, Montagnard and local Khmer militia troops, who see him as a demigod. OPFOR in this situation is not the NVA, VC, and Khmer Rouge forces, although encounters with them will be fierce. Therefor they should be avoided. The Montagnard and Khmer Militia are hostile to our OPFOR but under Kurtz command they are expected to be hostile to us as well should they detect our mission agenda. Kurtz will not trust any American forces in his operating area. Vietnam Fun-Op - Operation "Niagara II"

Requesting Stingray 2-1 Squad Lead for the same reasons as Sgt S. Rose wants FTL, I guess. No bias here. -

In addition to the previous, I would just like to add something in terms of play. If I join and Im the only one on there I should have access to AT and weapons that can give me a fighting chance at the least. Right now I can not get ANY kind of AT to go up against the enemies overwhelming use of armor and heavy weapons. No matter what changes are made it should always be playable by a single person, IMO. There is currently no AT options for a E4, no backpack larger then a Eagle, and no access to munitions apparently. Also, where did the 152 clackers go? Everything needs to be on timer currently. Its just too much restriction.

Event will be hosted on Saturday, 12NOV22 @1900 CST. and is available to all Unit Members as well as the Public. This Fun-Op is staged for circa. 1995 in the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Bosnia. All loadouts are designed with this theme in mind. Some exceptions have been made for the sake of game-play. For example: The Javelin was introduced in 1996. However, there is a AT specialist team that will carry it. Likewise, weapons platforms for ACE are current era. Historical Background This fun-operation is the simulated rescue TRAP (Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel) mission of a downed Air Force pilot in Bosnia in 1995, but with a twist. In 1992, the Serbs wanted their own republic and so they began purging minorities (“Ethnic Cleansing”). This constituted war crimes of an egregious nature. In response, the UN created a no-fly zone over Bosnia to prevent aerial attacks on civilians. NATO then backed this up with "Operation Deny Flight." The Serbs retaliated by shooting down NATO planes. If they succeeded, they would sometimes vent their rage on surviving pilots. This was known to all the F-16C fighter pilots from the 555th Fighter Squadron stationed in Italy. The 2 pilots that would patrol the “no-fly” zone were both Captain Robert Wright (Basher 5/1) and Captain Scott O’Grady (Basher 5/2). During a patrol on June 2nd 1995, the two pilots took off in their respective airframe F-16C’s to begin their patrol but were engaged by Soviet made SA-6 anti-air missiles. Basher 5-2’s plane took a direct hit and burst into flames. O’Grady ejected at over 5 miles in altitude and it took him 25 minutes to land, at which point he was being pursued by Serbian forces. O’Grady survived and evaded the enemy for 6 days. On June 8th, CH-53’s loaded with Marines from the 24th MEU, 3rd BTL 8th Marines took off from the USS Kearsarge at 4:30 AM. They picked O’Grady up at 6:42 AM and were on their way back when the Serbs opened fire. They fired back at the Serbs, but the Serbs were well-hidden in the trees below. One bullet hit a Marine, but his canteen stopped it. Another took out the main rotor of O’Grady’s helicopter. Another struck the tail blades – they lost pressure. Still another took out their communications. At 7:29 AM they all made it back to the Kearsarge alive and unhurt. THE TWIST The twist comes by way of the rescue mission circumstances and the pilot(s). For the game there will be both pilots, O'Grady and Wright, that will be attempting to evade capture while trying to get to a buffer zone or "safe zone" that the TRAP forces will have to create. The area is extremely hostile and there will be no help from civilians. Task Force code named "Titan" will have to move in to the only safe LZ and create a mobility corridor while the pilots maneuver through enemy lines evading capture. Primary Objectives: Rescue downed pilots. Confirmation Identity of Isolated Personnel will be required. Secondary Objectives: Repel enemy forces and destroy any anti-air weapons platforms (SA missile systems) in and around the area for safe extract. Sign-up Roster for this Operation is on a first come first serve basis. Reply to this topic stating the role you wish to play. Some roles are reserved for 15th MEU members. ACE reserved for confirmed pilots only. Closed spots will be opened when needed. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O-3Uc97BojI2FedTGpVTj4jT-TPDAvZneObisU1XIQw/edit?usp=sharing Read OPORD Enemy Units Main Body Forces Republik Srpska Infantry - AK variant small arms, RPG’s Motorized - BTR-60PB’s AK variant small arms, RPG’s Mechanized - BMP-2’s, T-55’s, AK variant small arms, RPG’s Anti-Air capable Adjacent Enemy Forces Chernarus Militia (Acting Serbian and Croat Militia) Infantry - Non-uniformed, AK variants Motorized - Pick up trucks with DHSKA’s and mounted PKM’s Isolated Persons Guide Survive on grub worms and other insects.
