ORIENTATION

Weather: Overcast, cold with intermittent low visibility

Time of Operation: 0300cst (in-game time)

Operation Location: Southern Finland Sector

Vegetation in the Area and its Effects on Visibility: Dense pine forests, open farmland, low-lying brush limiting long-range thermal and night-vision effectiveness.

Key Terrain in the Area: Heavy dense woods and flat farmland grids.

SITUATION

• Situation Update: Following our successful deployment in Kunar Province, the 17th MEU has been rapidly re-routed to the Baltic theater. Russian federation forces have launched localized cross-border incursions into Finland as retaliation for Helsinki’s continued military and logistical support of Ukraine. Enemy elements have seized critical infrastructure—specifically the regional power plant—plunging local Finnish towns into total darkness to break civilian resolve and disrupt military logistics.

 

• Enemy Forces (SALUTE):

  • Size: Estimated battalion-strength elements distributed across the sector.

  • Activity: Guarding the Power Plant, maintaining a fortified airfield to the southeast, and occupying key road junctions across the central valley.

  • Location: Power Plant (017 034), Airfield (southeast), and multiple marked hostile positions across the mid-map as seen in image_726562.jpg.

  • Equipment: Mechanized infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), heavy machine guns, localized anti-air capabilities, and fortified checkpoints , Light and Heavy Armour Capabilties, Air Assets.

• Enemy Capabilities and Limitations:

  • Enemy Most Likely Course of Action (EMLCOA): Upon realizing an assault is underway, the enemy will attempt to utilize the Airfield assets to reinforce the Power Plant and lock down the main north-south highway.

• Friendly Forces:

  • Adjacent Units: Finnish Defense Forces (FDF) holding defensive lines further north.

  • GREENFOR Forces: Finnish technical engineering team waiting to re-establish the grid once secured.

  • Supporting Units:

    • Titan 3 (CH-53)

    • Reaper 2 (AH-1Z)

    • Hunter 1 (UH-1Y)

MISSION

Vanguard 1 will depart Starting Point Leia (001 001), bypass or neutralize central hostile blocking positions, assault and secure the Power Plant (017 034), and eliminate all Russian forces inside the facility to allow Finnish engineers to safely restore power to the surrounding towns.

 

Higher's Mission: Vanguard will have neutralized the infrastructure occupation force, pushed the Russian vanguard back toward the border, and stabilized the civilian energy sector.

EXECUTION

• PHASE I: Infiltration from Leia

  • Movement: Vanguard will move dismounted or via light vehicles from Starting Point Leia (001 001) utilizing the western dense treeline for concealment to avoid detection from the central highway checkpoints.

  • Objective: Reach the western assembly area outside the Power Plant undetected under strict EMCON.

• PHASE II: The Power Plant Assault

  • Action: Vanguard 1-1 will lead the primary breach of the western security gate at Grid 017 034. Vanguard 1-2 and 4-1 will establish support-by-fire positions on the southern ridge overlooking the facility.

  • Air Support: Repaer 1 will provide close-air support, targeting Russian technicals and reinforcing infantry outside the plant compounds.

  • Objective: Neutralize all occupying hostile forces inside the facility and establish a secure perimeter.

• PHASE III: Grid Stabilization & Consolidation

  • Action: Secure the main control room and escort the GREENFOR Finnish engineering team into the building.

  • Defense: Prepare defensive positions facing east and southeast to repel any counter-attacks originating from the Airfield or adjacent hostile positions marked.

  • Objective: Hold the facility until power is successfully re-supplied to the local towns.

ADMIN AND LOGISTICS

• Rules of Engagement (ROE): Avoid damaging core transformers and delicate facility machinery within the Power Plant . Non-military vehicles in nearby towns are strictly off-limits.

• CASEVAC/Reinsertion Plan: Air insertion/evacuation net 65.

• Enemy Prisoners of War (EPWs): Standard 5 S’s (Search, Silence, Segregate, Safeguard, Tag). Hand over all Russian EPWs to FDF custody upon arrival of secondary units.

• Ammo/Loadouts: Resupply coordinated via ACE.
