Background:

increasing tensions between Iran and Iraq has forced both the US and USSR to send naval forces into the Persian gulf in an attempt to stabilize the region. Following these deployments came clashes between USSR and US forces. Culminating in the sinking of USS Kinkaid, a Spruance class destroyer, and damage to the Soviet cruiser Kerch. Following the sinking both governments Denounced each other and demanded compensation for damages, with both parties refusing causing a greater increase in tensions.

 

Situation:

5th Infantry Division (MECH) has been deployed to Germany in NORTHAG's AOR as a precaution due to the increasing tensions. 5ID has been occupying defensive positions along the border since June 10th.  At 0500 on June 15th Soviet artillery forces began preparatory bombardment on 4-12 Cavalry's positions. Since then the Cavalry have been in constant contact with the enemy and will be falling back behind the division's lines shortly.

 

Mission:

It is the mission of Team Alpha, Task Force 1-40th Armor to hold against Soviet attack in the vicinity of Ratzlingen with the purpose of attriting the enemies second echelon and prevent any further action today.

 

Enemy Forces:

Enemy force will be made up of a Motor Rifle Battalion (reinforced) from the 56th Guards Tank regiment, 7th Guards Tank Corps. They will be equipped with standard soviet gear and will be mounted in BMPs reinforced with a company of T-64s

 

 

Execution:

Determined by Team leadership

 

Admin and Logistics:

Reinserts will be via a zeus or self reinsert. Tank crews will have 1 additional tank to remount in after their first is destroyed.
