  3. AFTER ACTION REPORT (AAR): Operation Iron Breakwater UNIT: 17th MEU / Maritime Special Purpose Force (MSPF) DATE OF OPERATION: 29 MAR 2026 AO: Kunar Province (FOB Alamo / ASHAT) REPORTING OFFICER: Maj Underwood 1. MISSION OBJECTIVES PRIMARY: Relieve the besieged 2/9 Marine garrison at FOB Alamo. (SUCCESS) SECONDARY: Clear the insurgent-held town of ASHAT to reopen the Primary Supply Route (PSR). (SUCCESS) TERTIARY: Neutralize high-ground observation posts (OPs) along the valley floor. (SUCCESS) 2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY At 1800 CST, Vanguard 1 conducted a heavy-lift insertion via Titan 3-1 into Primary LZ. Despite heavy asymmetric resistance from IRGC-backed insurgents on the ridgelines, Vanguard successfully punched through the "Green Zone" chokepoint and reached the perimeter of FOB Alamo. Following the relief of the 2/9 Marines, Vanguard pivoted to offensive operations in the town of ASHAT. After a high-intensity house-to-house clearance, the town was declared secure, and the first logistics convoy reached the base at 2130 CST, restoring combat effectiveness to the sector. 3. OPERATIONAL TIMELINE 1805: Wheels down at Primary LZ. Vanguard 1 establishes 360-degree security. 1830: Vanguard engages insurgent skirmish lines at the valley floor. Reaper 1-1 neutralizes two (2) enemy technicals attempting to flank the squad. 1915: Breach of the Alamo southern gate. Link-up with 2/9 Marines achieved. Casualties stabilized at the helipad. 2000: Assault on ASHAT commences. Vanguard utilizes "Viam Inveniemus" tactics to bypass mined main roads and hit the town from the western orchards. 2100: Town of ASHAT cleared of all hostile occupancy. 2130: PSR confirmed open. Logistics convoy Alpha-1 arrives at FOB Alamo. 4. TACTICAL ANALYSIS Aviation Integration: The coordination between Vanguard 1 and Reaper 1-1 was surgical. CAS strikes on the ridgelines allowed the ground element to move through the valley without being pinned. Urban Clearance: The clearance of ASHAT was methodical. Fireteams utilized 360-degree security to prevent insurgent "hit-and-run" attacks during house-to-house transitions. Supply Restoration: By securing the "cork" in the valley (ASHAT), the 17th MEU has effectively shifted the strategic initiative back to friendly forces. 5. CASUALTIES Friendly: 12 WIA (Returned to Duty), 0 KIA. Enemy: Estimated 50+ KIA, 5+ Technicals destroyed 6. COMMANDER’S NOTES The 17th MEU has proven its capability to operate in high-threat mountainous terrain. While the PSR is open, the presence of weapon caches remains a high risk. Intelligence recovered at ASHAT suggests the enemy is transitioning to a guerrilla-style insurgency. END AFTER ACTION REPORT

  11. OFFICIAL DEPLOYMENT ORDER: VIGILANT ECHO UNIT: 17th MEU / Maritime Special Purpose Force (MSPF) AO: KUNAR PROVINCE (THE BORDER HIGHLANDS) BACKSTORY: A LINE IN THE DUST The Siege: For the last 48 hours, the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines have been the "Thin Blue Line" on the Iranian border. Following the outbreak of hostilities, they have been cut off at their Forward Operating Base (FOB) by a massive, asymmetric surge of IRGC-backed insurgents. The enemy didn't just attack; they strangled the valley. Using the jagged Kunar ridgelines, insurgent mortar teams and snipers have pinned the 2/9 inside their own wire. The base's flight line is "Red"—no birds can land, and no supplies can get in. The 2/9 is low on water, low on bandages, and down to their last crates of 5.56mm. The Stakes: This is an Official Relief Operation. The world is watching to see if the U.S. can protect its own. If the 2/9 falls, the border falls. If the 17th MEU breaks the siege, we regain the initiative. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ AO OVERVIEW: THE KUNAR FISHBOWL The Kunar Map is our Tactical Kill-Zone. The "Alamo" (FOB): Located in the valley. It is surrounded by stone walls that provide the insurgents with infinite cover for "Hit-and-Run" harassment. The High Ridges: The insurgents have established Observation Posts (OPs) on every major peak. They have "Eyes-On" the base 24/7. The "Green Zone" Chokepoint: The only road into the base runs through a dense thicket of trees and irrigation ditches. Intelligence suggests this "MSR" (Main Supply Route) is heavily mined with IEDs to prevent ground relief. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 2026 OFFICIAL EVENT SCHEDULE Task Force: 17th MEU / MSPF Cycle: 5th Sundays & Designated Holidays Date Occurrence March 29, 2026 5th Sunday May 31, 2026 5th Sunday June 21, 2026 Father's Day July 5, 2026 Holiday Sunday (Observed) August 30, 2026 5th Sunday November 29, 2026 5th Sunday ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ COMMAND BROADCAST The schedule for the 2026 deployment cycle is now live.
