Maj Underwood replied to Maj Underwood's topic in Public Operations
AFTER ACTION REPORT (AAR): Operation Cold Cell UNIT: 17th MEU / 1st Platoon, Vanguard DATE OF OPERATION: May 31, 2026 AO: Kunar Province (OBJ COBALT / HVT Stronghold) REPORTING OFFICER: Vanguard 1-0 1. MISSION OBJECTIVES PRIMARY: Conduct a motorized and foot patrol east of FOB Alamo to locate and neutralize hidden insurgent weapon caches. (SUCCESS) SECONDARY: Sweep, clear, and secure the heavily fortified township of OBJ COBALT (Grid 021 014). (SUCCESS) TERTIARY: Conduct a follow-on deliberate assault to intercept and secure HVT "The Architect" at a separate base (Grid 023 018). (SUCCESS) 2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY At 0900 CST, Vanguard 1 and 4 mounted up and departed FOB Alamo via the East Gate. Upon reaching Check Point 2, the platoon dismounted to execute a tactical foot patrol into the valley. Advancing on OBJ COBALT, elements encountered a heavily entrenched insurgent guard force protecting key logistics stockpiles. Following a systematic urban breach and house-to-house clearance under active fire, 6 weapon caches were successfully identified and destroyed. Actionable intelligence recovered on-scene diverted the platoon to a separate fortified stronghold at Grid 023 018. Vanguard 1 aggressively assaulted the second compound, eliminated perimeter resistance, and successfully captured the HVT alive for secure extraction back to base. 3. OPERATIONAL TIMELINE 09:00: Vanguard 1 mounts up and crosses the Line of Departure (LD) at FOB Alamo East Gate. 09:20: Column arrives at Check Point 2. Vehicles stage in a defensive posture, and the platoon dismounts to form a patrol baseline on foot. 09:45: Vanguard approaches OBJ COBALT (Grid 021 014) and immediately takes sustained small-arms and RPG fire from heavily fortified defensive positions guarding the town perimeter. 10:00: Platoon establishes a ground base of fire, utilizing organic automatic weapons to suppress enemy guard forces on the outer structures. 10:30: Breach element punches into the town. Vanguard systematically clears the heavily guarded compounds under active fire, successfully locating and neutralizing Weapon Caches. Intel recovered on-site reveals the HVT is command-staged at a separate base nearby. 11:00: Vanguard regroups and executes an aggressive tactical push on foot to the separate insurgent base located at Grid 023 018. 11:25: Platoon initiates a coordinated assault on the Grid 023 018 stronghold, neutralizing an armed enemy technical and breaching the main compound walls. 11:45: Target structure is successfully compromised. HVT "The Architect" is cornered and apprehended alive by Vanguard elements. 12:00: Platoon defended their current position until 2/9 Marine Reliefed the 17th and extracted HVT back to base 4. TACTICAL ANALYSIS Urban Breach Under Fire: The platoon faced a dug-in enemy force explicitly tasked with guarding the logistics caches inside OBJ COBALT. The transition from movement-to-contact to a deliberate urban breach was executed with high tactical discipline, overcoming heavy resistance without relying on external aviation support. Operational Endurance: Assaulting a heavily defended town to destroy caches and immediately pivoting to a second, separate fortified base at Grid 023 018 tested the platoon's endurance and tactical coordination. Executing two consecutive deliberate breaches on foot represents an exceptional demonstration of infantry capability. Logistics Interdiction: The destruction of these critical stockpiles severely degrades the insurgent capability to mount a planned counter-offensive against FOB Alamo, successfully swinging the strategic initiative back to friendly forces. 5. CASUALTIES Friendly: 0 KIA / 15+ WIA (treated on-scene by Corpsmen, returned to duty). Enemy: Estimated 50+ KIA, 1 Technical destroyed, 6 major weapon caches neutralized. 6. COMMANDER’S NOTES Operation Cold Cell was a resounding success. Operating with zero air assets required flawless small-unit leadership and communication on the ground. The platoon proved its adaptability by seamlessly transitioning from a heavy urban clearance directly into a high-stakes capture mission. With "The Architect" in custody, intelligence sections are currently parsing the recovered cellular data and documents to map out remaining insurgent infrastructure in the valley. Happy new year old home. Attempting to see if I can get my name added to the old E marine wall (Retirement roster xml). S-1 should have my full service record. Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. Been years since I knew who's running what.

Public Fun OP Cycle: Operation Vigilant Echo
Maj Underwood replied to Maj Underwood's topic in Public Operations
AFTER ACTION REPORT (AAR): Operation Iron Breakwater UNIT: 17th MEU / Maritime Special Purpose Force (MSPF) DATE OF OPERATION: 29 MAR 2026 AO: Kunar Province (FOB Alamo / ASHAT) REPORTING OFFICER: Maj Underwood 1. MISSION OBJECTIVES PRIMARY: Relieve the besieged 2/9 Marine garrison at FOB Alamo. (SUCCESS) SECONDARY: Clear the insurgent-held town of ASHAT to reopen the Primary Supply Route (PSR). (SUCCESS) TERTIARY: Neutralize high-ground observation posts (OPs) along the valley floor. (SUCCESS) 2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY At 1800 CST, Vanguard 1 conducted a heavy-lift insertion via Titan 3-1 into Primary LZ. Despite heavy asymmetric resistance from IRGC-backed insurgents on the ridgelines, Vanguard successfully punched through the "Green Zone" chokepoint and reached the perimeter of FOB Alamo. Following the relief of the 2/9 Marines, Vanguard pivoted to offensive operations in the town of ASHAT. After a high-intensity house-to-house clearance, the town was declared secure, and the first logistics convoy reached the base at 2130 CST, restoring combat effectiveness to the sector. 3. OPERATIONAL TIMELINE 1805: Wheels down at Primary LZ. Vanguard 1 establishes 360-degree security. 1830: Vanguard engages insurgent skirmish lines at the valley floor. Reaper 1-1 neutralizes two (2) enemy technicals attempting to flank the squad. 1915: Breach of the Alamo southern gate. Link-up with 2/9 Marines achieved. Casualties stabilized at the helipad. 2000: Assault on ASHAT commences. Vanguard utilizes "Viam Inveniemus" tactics to bypass mined main roads and hit the town from the western orchards. 2100: Town of ASHAT cleared of all hostile occupancy. 2130: PSR confirmed open. Logistics convoy Alpha-1 arrives at FOB Alamo. 4. TACTICAL ANALYSIS Aviation Integration: The coordination between Vanguard 1 and Reaper 1-1 was surgical. CAS strikes on the ridgelines allowed the ground element to move through the valley without being pinned. Urban Clearance: The clearance of ASHAT was methodical. Fireteams utilized 360-degree security to prevent insurgent "hit-and-run" attacks during house-to-house transitions. Supply Restoration: By securing the "cork" in the valley (ASHAT), the 17th MEU has effectively shifted the strategic initiative back to friendly forces. 5. CASUALTIES Friendly: 12 WIA (Returned to Duty), 0 KIA. Enemy: Estimated 50+ KIA, 5+ Technicals destroyed 6. COMMANDER’S NOTES The 17th MEU has proven its capability to operate in high-threat mountainous terrain. While the PSR is open, the presence of weapon caches remains a high risk. Intelligence recovered at ASHAT suggests the enemy is transitioning to a guerrilla-style insurgency. END AFTER ACTION REPORT -
