    Attention All Hands,

Section 10-7 of our Unit Policy deals with the punitive articles of our Unit. These are the various things you can be disciplined for here. We have made an adjustment to 10-7.7 False Statement. The current policy is as follows:

Adding to this, we will be adding two sub-clauses:

Stolen Valor has always been against our rules, and that goes without saying. However we felt the need to specifically state this in our policy.
Catfishing has not been, though it goes against Common Sense of False Statement and simple courtesy.. and given the world we live it we feel it necessary to codify within our policies.

Any requests for clarification should go through your Chain of Command.

    Attention All Hands,

In Marine Corps Awards and Decorations there is a specific device attachment for the Expert Qualification Badge. When qualifying Expert multiple times in a row, you are awarded a clasp for your badge between the top clasp and the badge itself. We will now be implementing this.

Qualifying for Expert will gain you the Expert Qualification Badge. Qualifying a second time in a row (years.. not attempts) will gain you a device just below the clasp that states '2nd Award'. A third qualification in a row will change that device to '3rd Award', and so on and so forth. If any year you do not qualify Expert, you start over. This means if you qualify Expert years one and two (and thus have the 2nd Award device), then year three score Sharpshooter, qualifying year four as Expert will gain you the normal Expert Qualification Badge again.

This award is effectively immediately and will be retroactive. That means those of you who have already qualified multiple years in a row as Expert will start seeing these devices appear in your next A&D update.

For reference, this is what the award will look similar to.

    Attention All Hands,

We announced last month the promotions for Captain J. Murphy and Sergeant Major Hoagland to the positions of Company Commander and MEU Sergeant Major, respectively. As most of you may know, these positions also come with seats on the Unit Command Staff. As of today both of these gentlemen will be assuming their seats.

Captain J. Murphy will be representing the Infantry Company, and will retain his seat so long as he holds his billet.
Sergeant Major will be representing MEU HQ and the entirety of the Enlisted in the Unit, and will retain his seat so long as he is a member of this unit.

Congratulations gentlemen. We welcome your insight and discussion as we continue to guide along the greatest realism unit around.

    Attention All Hands,

The past years we have proudly housed some of the most elite warriors of the Armaverse in our Force Reconnaissance Platoon. Their excellence has been marred, however, by the unit's failure to live up to them in flexibility, ability, understand.. and well just plain old ArmA. We are going to be taking steps to change this, starting... well a long time ago, but today is the most abrupt and aggressive of any effort.

We will be stepping somewhat out of realism for the sake of gameplay/mindset for this. This may not sit well with some people. Let me preface this all by saying this change, while not exactly realistic, plays to the gameplay that is allowed (and sometimes forced) by ArmA. Force Reconnaissance and its intended missions do not work very well in the schemes of ArmA, nor in the way we have attempted to employ them (at least not well). Therefore, we will be changing the idea of these missions by changing Force Reconnaissance.

Effective 17 October 17, the Force Reconnaissance Platoon is dissolved.

In its place we will be activating, and attaching to the 15th MEU Realism Unit, Alpha Company, 1st Marine Raider Battalion (MARSOC).

With this change, our new MARSOC section will be able to complete some of the same tasking such as:

    Direct action
    Special reconnaissance
    Information operations
    Security force assistance
    Preparation of the environment
    Counter-insurgency
    Maritime Interdiction Operations

And many new mission possibilities such as:

    Counter-terrorism
    Foreign internal defense
    Unconventional warfare
    Special/Clandestine operations
    Counter-drug operations

MARSOC structure will also be drastically changed. Instead of the platoon structure, they will be organized as follows:

1st Marine Raider Regiment (1st MRR)
1st Marine Raider Battalion (1st MRB)
Marine Special Operations Company (MSOC) - Alpha
Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) - One

    Tactical Element One
    Team Leader - MSgt
    Element Leader - SSgt
    Assistant Element Leader - Sgt
    RO/JTAC - Sgt
    SARC - HM2
    Critical Skills Operator - Cpl
    Critical Skills Operator - Cpl

    Tactical Element Two
    Team Chief - GySgt
    Element Leader - SSgt
    Assistant Element Leader - Sgt
    RO/JTAC - Sgt
    SARC - HM2
    Critical Skills Operator - Cpl
    Critical Skills Operator - Cpl

This is a mix between our current organization and the real MSOT organization, and will allows us the flexibility called for in our operations.

All current Force Reconnaissance Marines in our unit will be re-designated with the single MOS 0372 Critical Skills Operators, with the exception of Captain Roddy, whom will retain his rank as Captain and assume the Team Leader position, and hold the MOS of 0370 Special Operations Officer. All fully qualified members of the MSOT will be awarded the Marine Special Operator Insignia. This insignia will replace all current Active Duty and Reserve Force Reconnaissance Marines who are to be transitioned. All former Force Reconnaissance Marines, whether they are now in a new billet or Retired, will maintain the Combatant Diver Insignia and Navy and Marine Corps Parachutists Insignia, and the previous Force Reconnaissance MOS.

Each Element SARC will hold the NEC 8403 Fleet Marine Force Reconnaissance Independent Duty Corpsman. They will continue to be authorized to wear two of the three badges: Combatant Diver Insignia, Navy and Marine Corps Parachutist Insignia, or Fleet Marine Force Enlisted Warfare Specialist Device.

The callsign for the MSOT will be 'Roughneck'.

Training and Selection for this new section will remain largely unchanged for now, though this may eventually happen.

Operationally many of you may not see a change. But this will be a drastic move for our new MSOT Marines, and we hope a welcome one. Information about Selection is not being released yet, but it may be soon. Discussions about any possible Selection (and whether or not it will be approved this year) are still going on. That information will be released very soon, however.

Welcome, MARSOC. Improve upon the tradition of our Force Reconnaissance Marines in the name of individuals such as First Sergeant Martinez, Major Rittenhouse, and Captain Roddy. Good luck.

    Attention All Hands,

In the Fall of 2014 the US Marine Corps implemented a new ribbon for their instructors. We somehow missed this, and have been behind the ball on this. We are rectifying this, effective immediately:

The Combat Instructor Ribbon will be awarded to all Instructors for School of Infantry, Basic Recon School, and Flight Instructor time. The time requirements will not differ from current. The Drill Instructor Ribbon will continue to be awarded to Recruit Instructors.
This change is not retroactive, as the amount of work involved would be prohibitive. If someone decides of their own accord to put in that work it may be reconsidered.

    Attention All Hands,

As we have discussed before, just a few months ago our friend and comrade Adam Corium passed away. This was marked with a memorial service to him, as well as the sadness, condolences, and remembrance all his friends here hold.

Today we memorialize our friend further: Effective 16 October 2017 the LHD USS Fallujah, when in operation, is renamed the USS Adam Corium. This is much like the USS Matthew Barton which memorializes our friend who also passed away some years ago.

Rest in peace, Corium. You still live on here.

    Attention All Hands,

Effective immediately, any individual in this unit may attend a Tank or AAV section or vehicle training and fill-in as a driver in order to familiarize themselves with the platform and its responsiveness and capabilities.

Tanks and AAVs must create and give a brief INDOC to all attendees before they may do so, and these 'fill-ins' are only allowed to drive. This is also only valid for section and vehicle training, and will not be allowed for any FTX or Operation. This also should not be done every training, but sparingly, as having a 'fake fill-in' every training will prevent the crew from training and forming a cohesive unit.

Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action and/or the revocation of this policy.

    Attention All Hands,

With good results from our test last week, as well as the previous Recon operation testing, the JSRS Sound Mod has been approved for use.

To use this mod you will need the JSRS Sound Mod and the JSRS Soundmod RHS Compatibility. This is not a required mod, but you may use it if you wish.

As a small note, the 'JSRS Soundmod - Additional Weapon Handling and Reloading Sounds' remains banned.
