The Road For Recruits The purpose of this thread is to give the recruits a better understanding of what to do next in their 15th MEU careers. Below are step by step instructions, from putting in an application into the unit, all the way to completing SOI (School of Infantry) and being placed into one of the units you have signed up for. Note: Not all questions you may have will be answered here. If you do have any questions that you can not find an answer for, please message a recruit instructor. List of Recruit Instructors Sgt R. Bruce - Chief Recruit Instructor HM3 (FMF) S. Davis - Recruit Instructor SSgt A. B. Johnson - Recruit Instructor Putting in an Application Your first step is to put in an application. Below are some things to consider before putting in an application: Minimum age requirement: 17 Years old. No exceptions. Need to have Arma 3 installed. Your application will not be processed without a valid Player ID. TeamSpeak 3 VoIP Client and working microphone/speakers/headset. You need to hear us, we need to hear you. You will not be allowed to begin initial training without these. Ability to attend at least two of our unit wide events on the Sundays each week at around 19:00 (7:00pm) - 21:30 (9:30pm) Central Standard Time. If you meet all the requirements you may start the next step, which is picking your desired MOS (what you would like to do in the unit): Current Open Billets. Note: Some billets may not be available to you on completion of Recruit Training/School of Infantry. Please have a primary and secondary MOS picked. You cannot apply for a pilot position until completion of School of Infantry. Once completed with SOI, pending openings, you can submit a transfer request to your desired billet. Here is the step by step process for applying to the 15th MEU: Submit your application. Application gets accepted. A private message will be sent your inbox telling you what to do next. Read it in detail and follow the directions exactly. Recruit Training Now that your application into the unit has been accepted and you have received your Private Message with details on how to set up your mods, your next step is to attend Recruit Training. Below are the steps for signing up for Recruit Training: Navigate to the Recruit Training Forum Sign up for the class that best suits your schedule. Attend the class you signed up for. Complete recruit training. Wait for forum access to continue on to SOI (this may take 24-72 hours). Some notes on recruit training: Recruit training typically takes 2 hours. It is a one day event that consists of various classroom subjects, radio usage and a weapons familiarization course. The recruit instructors will put a message out on TeamSpeak 30 minutes before the start of the class. When you attend the class, please have a learning mindset. Upon completion of Recruit Training you will be promoted to Private. School of Infantry School of Infantry, or SOI, is where you will learn all about operating as an infantryman in the 15thMEU. Once you have access to Phase Two: School of Infantry, sign up for the appropriate class based on your chosen MOS. SOI encompasses 3 different trainings: Infantry Training Battalion (ITB): This is where all new members will attend. ITB is a 4 day course, split into 2 weeks; 2 days per week. Each class will take 2-3 hours. In ITB, you will learn all the details of being an infantryman in the 15th MEU. Fleet Medical Training Battalion (FMTB): This is where all those who picked the HM-8404 MOS will go. FMTB is a one day course that will run you through the responsibilities of being a corpsman. After School of Infantry Once you complete SOI, you will be given the 15th MEU(SOC) tag on TeamSpeak. This tag signifies you are part of the 15th MEU Realism Unit and you can start going to official unit operations. Here are the next steps following completion of SOI: Once your forum profile is updated (24-48 hours after graduation), you should see a new forum area called Ground Combat Element or respective element board.
