Official Youtube Channel
« on: January 08, 2017, 03:58:32 PM »
While I am sure that a lot of participants will record and stream their perspective on their own channels, I think it might be a good idea to create a own channel for this event.

This would have the benefit that possible streams are centered and not completely spread across different channels. It would also open up the door to use the channel to do some advertising and promotion for the event. Meaning we could probably make 2-3 trailers/teasers in the coming weeks and months. Another thing is that you could simply hand out streaming rights to different people.

BI has supported similar events in the past. In 2016 they did support a community event that was hosted by a german arma 3 page and they did include streaming the event on the official BI twitch with commentary.

So what do you think about this in general?

Sounds like a solid idea. How would it be handled though? Possibly a media team consisting of 1-2 members per unit?

So I read the stuff about the joint op and im currently bored af on the otherside of the world with 1kb/s internet and only a laptop with work stuff so I created a logo for the OP for fun. Currently is an unofficial logo. Maybe its cool if we can use something like this also for the channel etc.

this is the logo:

Fonts used: Calligraphic, Copperplate Gothic Bold
Colors used:
Red: RGB(206,48,54)
Brown: RGB(163,145,104)
Brown Gradient: RGB(158,140,100) -> RGB(210,192,142)
Gray: RGB(37,37,37)

That is in fact a "dope ass" image and I would be happy to use it. Depending on the input and feedback, I would create a google account with a YouTube channel and interested people can do some work for it. My general idea is to do a very simple teaser to launch the channel and do 2-3 more teasers, just so we can try to reach people before the event actually starts.

Created a YouTube/google account for it and used the nice image posted here as a user image. Would be great if we could get a fitting channel image too. The recommended size is 2560x1440 and a file size of 4mb.

Also note that the user image is on top of that on the left top corner.

I also forwarded the login details to Johnston, so he can share it.

Nice video. I like it.

This is my personal opinion, but I think it would be cool to add the names of all the units participating, who the represent in the real world militaries, and an in-game image of members of that unit doing something.

Example for us:
Image taken from something in game and over the image it says 15thMEU (U.S. Marine Corps) and so on for the other units.

Just an idea

Names and unit insigna will be added in future teasers/trailer. Main reason I did not do it yet is because it is not final which units are in it and which are not. So I did not want to make something that is incomplete or is leaving units out.

I personally don't know why we would want to create a new YouTube channel for this event. One of the goals of this
event should be to promote both units. I think that would best be done by unloading the videos of this event to our
current YouTube channels. Those channels have more of a chance to be seen by the public at large. Just throwing
this out there.

There are 11-13 units participating. Would you like to guess again?

Every member of a unit is obviously free to stream, record and publish video content on their own channels. The main reason for the channel created is to have a centered channel that can be used for advertisement and to have a easy way to access streams. As a user it is much easier to check out one channel to see content and not checking out and subscribing to 11-13 different channels.

I think the unit logos that have confirmed joining us. Be added to the banner. That shows all those who are participating via their logos and it will really show the size of this operation.
