Recruiting Server Mod Setup Guide

If the map is Altis, you DO NOT NEED any of the four mods: CUP Terrains, Kundaz, Clafghan or G.O.S Al Rayak mod.
If the map is Chernarus, Nogovo, Sahrani or Takistan, you MUST also download CUP Terrains mod. NOTE: 99% of the time this is required as we play on these four maps!
If the map is Kundaz, you MUST also download Kundaz mod.
If the map is Clafghan, you MUST also download Clafghan mod.
If the map is AL Rayak, you MUST also download G.O.S Al Rayak mod.
If you are crewing an aircraft or vehicle, you MUST also download Task Force Arrowhead Radio mod. NOTE: Without TeamSpeak and TFAR, you will be at a huge disadvantage as you will not be able to hear orders or enemy locations.

REMINDER: Only Run Approved Client Side Mods

This method will subscribe you to all the Steam Workshop mods together, but you will still need to manually download the files stated below.
Links are provided within file!

Open link, download file & open file for instructions
Instructions contained within the file: "Drag this file or link to it to Arma 3 Launcher or open it Mods / Preset / Import."

Spoiler: Quick Setup Guide • show

Mandatory Mods:
CBA_A3
ACE3
RHS AFRF
RHS GREF
RHS USAF
RHS SAF
CUP Terrains Complete OR CUP Terrains Maps + CUP Terrains Core
Task Force Arrowhead Radio

Conditional Mods:
Kundaz
Clafghan
G.O.S Al Rayak

Optional Mods:
RHS SAF
Enhanced Movement
Chestpack
STUI Contains both Approved and Not Yet Approved Mods
STUI Settings This is to disable the STHUD/STUI Occlusion feature

Wherever possible, I will provide links to the Steam Workshop for automatic updates and links to ARMAholic or the developer's website for manual updates.
The benefits of automatic updates is that you don't have to download the whole file again when there is only changes to a small portion of the file.
However, the recruiting server does not always run on the latest version of certain mods, so you will be forced to download the older version from ARMAholic or the developer's website.

The mods needed to play on the recruiting server are:
NOTE: I found using a FTP client (e.g. Filezilla) to download the RHS mods was faster as the FTP client could be started up multiple times and could download up to ten files per client. Whereas the updater would only download one file per mod (USAF/GREF/AFRF).

What is the new STHUD/STUI occlusion system?
If you do not have a valid line-of-sight on a unit, their marker will begin to fade away, becoming invisible after a few moments. Re-establishing line-of-sight will cause the marker to fade in again. Moving through dense terrain such as heavy woods or jungle thus makes keeping line of sight that much more important.

To fix the STHUD/STUI occlusion issue, please visit ARMAholic

Troubleshooting Guide
Version Mismatch Error
If you get an error message similar to the image below, you may be able to continue playing on the server in some circumstances. If you are unable to play because of a version mismatch (e.g. ACE), you will need to either upgrade or downgrade your mod to match the server's version.

This type of error can be ignored as it continues to allow you to play. The message above lets you know what version you are running versus what version the server is running. In the above example, I'm running CBA_A3 at version 3.1.2.161105 when the server is running 3.1.1.161012.

This type of error CANNOT be ignored as it will prevent you from playing on the server. I'm running ACE3 on version 3.8.1.11 but the server is still running on 3.8.1.10

Task Force Arrowhead Radio Version Mismatch Error
You can pretty much ignore these two error messages as TFAR runs on anything higher than verison 0.9.8. When the server is upgraded, which I don't think is on the cards at the moment, this error message will no longer appear.

ACE3 Compatible Mods warning
If you get the following warning, follow the steps listed below. I personally do not use ACE3 on other servers so I have gone with the alternative method instead of loading up another mod folder, but the choice is yours.

You need to move the follow .pbo and .bisign files for the instructions below:
  • ace_compat_rhs_afrf3.pbo
  • ace_compat_rhs_afrf3.pbo.ace_3.8.1.11-e1aa5b42.bisign
  • ace_compat_rhs_usf3.pbo
  • ace_compat_rhs_usf3.pbo.ace_3.8.1.11-e1aa5b42.bisign
How to install these components?
  • Inside your Arma 3\@ace\ folder, you’ll find the optionals and addons folders.
  • Inside the Arma 3 folder create a new folder e.g. Arma 3\@ace_optionals\ and a subfolder Arma 3\@ace_optionals\addons
  • Copy and paste the relevant .pbo and .bisign files from the Arma 3\@ace\optionals folder into the Arma 3\@ace_optionals\addons folder.
Alternative method to install optionals
  • Inside your Arma [email protected]/ folder, you’ll find the optionals and addons folders.
  • Copy and paste the relevant .pbo and .bisign files from the optionals folder into the addons folder.
  • Copy and paste the userconfig folder from the optionals folder into root Arma 3 folder.
The above steps were taken from ACE3's website.

So many links my dude

I only wrote this up because too many people are having issues with joining the server or their ACE interactions not working.
The huge amount of links is because some people like to download the mod once and only update it manually when necessary. Others like the auto-updating feature of Steam Workshop.
I'm also giving multiple choice for people to either look at the ARMAholic page or just directly download the file instead of going to each page and downloading the file from there.

Options mate. Options :D

I especially appreciate this post, thank you Garp for what you do and the amount of hours you put into playing on the server.

To clean up your post you could use the spoilers feature of the forums to hide the links unless someone needs it, you can also name the links instead of showing the hole adress. like on the official forum post I use cba for the cba link, simply between the ulr and end url braket place cba and in the first bracket make it look like url=www.blahnotareallink.com

also the enhanced movement and chestpack are approved mods for the recruit server, I will make sure to update my post.

Does chestpack work properly with the cleanup script? As I recall from my time as an RTO chestpack puts the backpack on your chest as an item attached, but eventually gets cleaned up by any script as garbage - causing you to be stuck in walking mode until you pickup another pack.

Please advise me if I am wrong about this, but I know I had issues when in Gambler 3 on their server cause of the cleanup script when using this mod.

ST UI and the newer version of ST HUD (within ST UI) has occlusion turned on which is an annoying feature that requires someone to change the mission file to disable it :(
Maybe I'll talk to you about it later when I go home in an hours time.

That was my next step: spoilers and formatting. Unfortunately trying to balance BBCode with nice formatting is proving to be a pain for me.

I have yet to add the troubleshooting and actual setup of RHS within ACE folders. Still a long way to go :S

I haven't encountered any issues with the cleanup script removing the backpack on the chest.

So I sort of made the original post a bit shorter. But I've just used just past 70% of the maximum character limit!

Sgt Bayless. STHUD (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18949) also installs Group Indicator and Map Autobrightness :(
If you look carefully at the download link: http://www.armaholic.net/downloader.php?download_file=chili/addons/misc/st_ui_140808.7z

Do you think we can get those two mods approved since I don't think there is a way to install certain mods from the pack. Except for actually deleting the PBOs and BISIGN files from the folder.

I still need to write up a troubleshooting guide on some of the errors I have encountered when playing on the recruit server. They pop up every time but I just ignore them and they work just fine still.

Excellent work Garp

I have considered my application for a long time. Pretty much since joining the recruiting server.
The only reasons why I haven't put it in is:
  • I cannot make the two unit wide operations/events on the weekend. Due to the time zone conflicts. I'm not skipping work to play Arma at 10am on a Monday
    • It has been suggested that I apply for the Law Enforcement Detachment which operates a day earlier. However, I am so busy on the weekend that I cannot commit to that either
    • It has been suggested that I apply for the Reserves which means I don't have to attend any of the required operations/events, but I don't think I'd be able to attend any of the training due to time zone conflicts

I really only joined the forums so I can make this post and also put in bug reports for the maps on the recruiting server.

Shouldn't we get this stickied?

I know he's not 15th, but we should make it easy to find.

It should only be stickied if someone is willing to keep it up-to-date.
I'm happy to keep it up-to-date but when baby pops out in 6 months time, I will not be playing anymore so I won't be able to keep this post up-to-date.

If anyone wants to put their hand up to keep it up-to-date and knows how to use bbCode, I am happy to give them the source code for this thread.
